Applications are now open for the IBPOC Student Interpreter Grant!
We know that many IBPOC students face financial barriers when pursuing a career in interpreting, often relying on scholarships, student loans, and part-time jobs to fund their education. To help reduce these challenges and support a more inclusive interpreting profession, Asign awards $3,000 each year to one outstanding IBPOC student interpreter.
Grant eligibility:
To apply, you must:
- Identify as Indigenous, Black, or a Person of Colour (IBPOC).
- Be enrolled in a Canadian Interpreting Education Program (IEP) (proof of acceptance or course registration required.)
- Submit a resume, cover letter, and an ASL video (max 8 minutes) covering:
-
- Your involvement in the Deaf community.
-
- Why you want to become an interpreter.
-
- How you plan to contribute to the Deaf and interpreting communities after graduation.
Include your video as a link or cloud-based file in your email application.
