Applications are now open for the Coda Student Interpreter Grant!
We’re aware of the barriers that codas face in accessing education. With this grant, we want to reduce these barriers and create a more inclusive professional body for interpreters.
Every year, we award this grant to remember and honour Christine Wilson, Asign co-founder and proud Coda. Christine was more than a colleague. She was a friend, a mentor and an extraordinary interpreter.
With $3,000 from Asign and $1,000 from Christine’s family, we’ll be awarding one individual a total of $4,000.
To meet grant requirements, applicants must:
- Be registered in a Canadian IEP (provide proof of acceptance letter or course registration)
- Submit a resume, cover letter and video in ASL describing the following: your involvement in the Deaf Community, why you want to become an interpreter and how you plan to get involved in the Deaf and interpreting communities after graduation. Please keep your video under 8 minutes long and include it in your email application using a link or cloud-based file.
- A dedicated committee will review the applications and select one individual to receive the grant.
Send your application and any questions to hr@asign.ca. Applications are due June 28th, 2024 and we’ll announce the recipient via email on July 26th, 2024.
